BIO
Thank you for visitng my site!
My name is Rachel Billings, I'm an independent filmmaker, production coordinator, and office assistant originally from Bronxville, NY and now based in New York City.
Since graduating from Kenyon College in 2022, I've written, directed, produced, and co-edited two short films: Teen Gay Fairytale and Nothing Changes Here. My pilot script, Pecan Falls, was selected for the Imagine This Women's International Film Festival back in 2023. I'm currently writing mixed-medium dramedy feature called Cartoonish, and have a few other script ideas in development.
My brand as a filmmaker is defined by style and intention rather than genre or subject matter. My stories dig into the messy corners of our minds through absurd concepts, quirky characters, and dialogue that will make you laugh one minute, then cry the next. I emphatically believe in the power of indie filmmaking and fostering collaborations that prioritize respect, fairness, and creative innovation.

As a freelancer, I have either assisted on or coordinated a wide variety of scripted and unscripted projects, both for independent filmmakers and high-profile clients like Netflix, Amazon, Warner Bros., Sony, Apple TV+, CBS, IBM, Bloomberg, Ebony Magazine, Benjamin Moore, and Gilead Sciences. I am also a second-round script reader for the Austin Film Festival.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, going to concerts, playing the New York Times words games, exploring new NYC restaurants with friends, and snuggling with my tabby cat, Winston.
